A secluded beach near Kashid!!!! Very Unlikely !!!!!!

Kashid is a very popular beach in the North Konkan region of Maharashtra and one of the weekend getaway spots from Pune & Bombay. For Puneites, the closest beaches that can be visited in a day are in the Konkan region and out of all the beaches, Kashid tops the list!

Personally, I am not a big fan of the Kashid beach. Lately, it has become very crowded and not so clean beach in Konkan. As a group of 5, we decided on a day trip to Kashid. I was not very excited but nevertheless, looked forward to a change from daily routine.

Kashid is ~170kms from Pune and the usual route is via ghats which doesn’t go well with me πŸ˜› (More reasons for not feeling excited for this trip!!!!). But this time we took a different route than the usual one and it was just amazing!!! Picturesque views of the lush green Sahyadri mountain range one side and the Arabian sea coast on the other, combined with A.R.Rahman hits playing in the background, the ride turned out to be a memorable one.

After a couple of wrong turns and detours, we reached Kashid in ~5hrs from Pune.

Kashid was as usual crowded, specially that day being a weekend. But that didn’t stop us from stepping into the water. πŸ˜€ There is some extraordinary power in sea breeze that refreshes the mind and soul instantly.

Our original plan was to stop here for 10-15mins, then drive to the Murud-Janjira fort nearby and later enjoy the sunset on Kashid beach. But it was already lunch time when we reached Kashid, so the obvious next stop was one of the many restaurants nearby serving home style Konkan food. After Googling, we found a restuarant named “Neel Garden” which was ~4kms from Kashid with good customer reviews. On the way to the restaurant from Kashid, we found a beach which was totally empty! :O How much I wished to go down there and explore that beach!!!! We enquired the restaurant owner about the directions to reach this beach and it was not very far from the restaurant. We found the entry point to this beach and went down to explore it.

What we witnessed after getting down was literal bliss! Cool breeze, sound of waves hitting the shore, extremely clean sand and water, nobody on the entire beach except for a few fishermen and infinite opportunities for wonderful couple pics without worries of photobombing. πŸ˜€

I have visited a number of beaches in Konkan region and by far this was my most favorite one! We kept all our other plans aside and just sat on the shore for almost 4 hrs till sunset. By sunset, low tide set in and water was pulled into the sea making it possible to walk further into the sea.

Trip to Konkan usually comprises of a beach location, delicious home cooked sea food, lots of water sports and getting tan that takes several days to wear off. But finding a secluded beach and enjoying it as if it’s your own… very Unlikely!!!!!!! πŸ˜€
